First off, thanks everyone who participated in the contest. I got twice as many entries this year as last year and it took me a long time to sort through them and pick winners. There was a ton of amazing stuff and it was really hard to decide. I became quite despondent, thinking about how I only had four ARCs of Glass to give out. Soon all I would do was lie on the floor and bewail my situation. Eventually the boyfriend prodded me into making a call to my publicist, and I told her I needed more ARCs for an unspecified purpose. (Hi, Nicole!) She gave me four more. Which means that in fact:
First-place winners get a signed ARC of Glass.
Second-place winners also get a signed ARC of Glass.
Third-place winners get a chapter of The Clockwork Princess, bound into a little pamphlet and signed.
I also created an honorable mention category, where I listed some of the other stuff I really liked and thought everyone else would get a kick out of too. Admittedly you don't get anything for being in that. :)
Here's how it works: All the winners are listed, with their entries and their names. If you won, you contact me at : cassandraclare [at] gmail [dot] com to tell me which entry was yours give me your address. Don't post your address in the comments. You get a week to get in touch with me with your address. After that, I'm going to give the ARC to the next person down the line from you. So if the first place winner doesn't show, the ARC goes to the third place winner, etc.
Those of you who entered — whether you won or not — and would like your entry to live on in some form, please submit your fanmixes, fanart, fanvids, photos and whatever else to Ashley at www.mundiesource.net, who will make a home for it. She says: "The e-mail is Submissions [at] MundieSource [dot] net. Icons and fan art can be sent as attachments or they can link me and then I'll download it and host it. Fan fiction, fan mixes, and fan videos can all be linked to. Also banners, wallpaper... Pretty much everything the contest entailed is acceptable. Including the Book in a Weird Location pictures. I can make a place for them if anyone wants to submit them." So send away!
CATEGORY 1: Art
First place: Simon’s story, by Alyssa and Shanley. A gorgeous set of photographic stills featuring scenes from the books. The one of the hand clawing its way out of the grave is actually quite creepy…
Second place: Bibi, for her absolutely beautiful set of Magic-the-Gathering type cards — I considered if these were really fanworks, but there’s not enough of them that you can play an actual game :D and they are very definitely art. Simon’s, with its artistic splashes of blood, is my favorite.

You can see the whole set here.
Third: I COULD NOT DECIDE on this one. I finally settled on a three-way tie between
1)
’s Jacob’s Ladder (love the use of old subway maps)
2) Amanda's pencil drawing of Jace:

3) And this drawing of the cast, by Jessa:

Some honorable mentions:
izapi's City of Glass calendar.:

These adorable Clary “paper dolls” by . . . okay, I couldn’t find a name on this one so you’ll have to tell it to me in the comments.
Kayleightodd’s comic-ized version of a scene from City of Glass:

’s picture of Maia:
— I always like to see the minor character love. Several people drew Maia with blond hair and blue eyes, so a gentle reminder — she’s biracial. Brown hair, brown eyes, brown skin. I swear, it's in the book. :)
Magical_moi's Isabelle:

And Megan's set of scenes from the book that all focus on Clary's rune power; they should be watched as a slideshow.
CATEGORY 2: Video
This one was something of a done deal the moment it got posted, especially judging from the reaction it got. First prize:
The Lightwood Llama Song by
marcyjo and
ali_catz. I had never heard the original llama song when I first watched this, and it still made me laugh. Then I watched the llama song and this again, and I laughed harder. Then I showed it to Holly, and she said it made her laugh till she cried.
Second place: Mimi with “I Kissed My Brother (And I Liked It): the creation of this apparently involved over 700 stop-motion photographs. Also, it’s hilarious.
Third Place: tie:
1) Thelymachy.
This is my favorite of the clips-from-movies-and-TV type trailers. Partly because it comes with its own poster!:

and partly because I think it does a really good job of creating — in a short space of time — exciting-looking action sequences and a haunting Gothic setting. This sets it apart from the many videos which are more along the lines of Jace and Clary gazing wistfully at each other. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. :D
2) “City of Bones: Run” by Krista; I just love the use of the quotes and the really good editing and the well-done narrative and the actors from Skins don’t hurt either.
Some honorable mentions: sullysapphire's: Magnus's Dirty Secret for being hilarious, Meghan and Hannah's Coffee and Mortal Instruments video, and PUPPET THEATER!, by musclesam, always a good time.
CATEGORY 3: FANWORK
First place: Ashley, for Mundiesource.net, which is an incredibly comprehensive fansite with character profiles, icons, banners, fanvids, fanart, fic, and everything else you might want. It’s nicely designed, ad-free, and easy to navigate.
Second place: Lightwood Fanmix, by Trish, which is detailed, lovely, and thorough:
http://memoir.net63.net/alec.html
http://memoir.net63.net/isabelle.ht ml
Third place:
shawn_anne for her beautiful wallpaper of Sebastian, Clary and Jace.
Seriously, all her wallpapers are pretty. There’s one on my desktop now.
Honorable mentions:
one_lucky_kitty’s fansite,
antistar_e’s quote icons from Ashes. Her icons are always fun *points to current icon.*
And Amber's Jace t-shirt (which, with the wings on the back, looks not unlike the t-shirts I've been designing myself.)
Oh, and — cosplay! Elena dressed up as Isabelle for a party.
CATEGORY 4: Weird Location
Many people have fretted that since they don’t live in an exotic location, they can’t win the weird location contest. But just to prove that the weird location contest is about creativity, the winner,
mandajt, took the photos inside her own house:

SPAGHETTI BATH!
More pictures here. As she says, “that is 15 pounds of spaghetti. I'm in college, that is all that my funds would allow. But come on, it's 15 pounds. I have a surprisingly deep bathtub. Also, I, unlike Jace, do not have servants, and individually boiled pots of spaghetti myself, then transferred them upstairs to the bathroom.”
There was another photo as well of the book in a spaghetti bath, but this is the only one where the entrant actually got into the tub — it’s all about how much suffering you endured.
Second place: This one is a tie. Yes, that means you both get ARCs.
1)
kalaaa for her photo of the book balanced on a statue of Oscar Wilde. As she says: " I noticed that one of the chapters in City of Glass is named after the Oscar Wilde quote “Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground” and it gave me the idea. I live in Dublin (in Ireland- not Ohio!)so naturally I'm a big Oscar fan. I walk by the house he lived in everyday on my way to work. Right opposite the house is Merrion square park with a statute of him so here’s my picture of your book resting of Oscar Wilde’s foot as he makes a face that can only be described as a Jace worthy smirk :) I think I should get extra points cause it was raining, my lunch hour and full of tourists looking at me like I am plum crazy trying to balance a book on a foot!"

2) Lilly and Lizzie for their extensive photo documentary:

Third Place (also a tie):
1)
is_bel explains her photo: "This entry is for Category Four. Recently, my sister and I stumbled across a removable floor panel in our local church. We decided to peek inside and found it empty, dusty and cobweb-y. It also totally reminded us of the weapons storage Jace showed Clary when they went to a church! We thought that it looked rather bare with just the one book in there, so its been revamped a little, like a real weapons storage ;). Jace's dialogue as he explained to Clary what's usually found in these secret compartments was our major reference:"

2) Katie's photo of the book in a cage at the zoo with a two-toed sloth. Apparently there was also a photo with an elephant but the elephant was scared of the book. My first bad review from the animal kingdom.

Honorable mentions:
Laurie took her photo " just outside Edinburgh, by giant piles of ash that had been burned in Victorian times for paraffin."

Amira's photo, which she "took of "City of Bones" in Luxor, Egypt in the ancient Karnak temple, the largest temple in all of ancient egypt."

Kayleightodd got her boyfriend to pose (shirtless!) as Sebastian:

This is just too funny. Two separate people took photos of the book in front of the statue of Lucifer in the Birmingham Art Museum. I enjoy picturing the expression on the faces of the museum guards when this happened not once but twice.
By ImperfectPerfection:

By Tiyya:

Sany's photo: "I decorated CoA with eyes, freckles, extensions, a hat and an open mouth of horror ...That pictures were actually some trouble making, because we had to kidnapp the Harley of my boyfriends father and drive it to a nearby bridge":
londen_t's photo of the book in Mexico City:

Blythe and Bec's photo of the book in Port Philip Bay, Melbourne, Australia:

Keira's Seelie and Unseelie Courts fight over the books in a graveyard:

And lastly, this absolutely cracked me up — technically you're not supposed to use photoshop in this category, but what the hell. It's just an honorable mention. Plus my doctor friends loved it.

Thanks everyone who entered the contest! It was so much fun. I'm already looking forward to the Clockwork Princess contest next year, though since no one will have read that series yet I'll have to get creative. :)
First-place winners get a signed ARC of Glass.
Second-place winners also get a signed ARC of Glass.
Third-place winners get a chapter of The Clockwork Princess, bound into a little pamphlet and signed.
