1) NYC Teen Author Festival

This year marks the first-ever NYC Teen Author Festival (March 16-22, 2009), taking place in and around downtown New York City and featuring a ton of YA authors. You can find the full schedule on Scott Westerfeld's blog here.
To kick off the festival on Monday, March 16, Justine L. and Scott have put together a Juvenalia Smackdown panel, moderated by the foxy Libba Bray. Justine, Scott, Holly Black, Alaya Johnson, David Levithan, Diana Peterfreund and I will be reading from our childhood and teenage writings. And let me tell you, my stuff was BAD. I had to have a friend from high school scan a bunch of pages of the terrible romance novel I wrote, and she was like, "This thing is so bad it melted the scanner." So if you're into that sort of cruel punishment, you should def. check our panel out.
2) I'm happy to report that the Spanish-language version of City of Bones just came out yesterday. The cover looks familiar! [although they've switched the covers of Bones and Ashes].
I also did an interview with the Spanish paper Publico, which you can read here if you can read Spanish. I cannot, so for all I know the article is very insulting, but I'm assuming not. Thanks to
kotori_chan for the link.
3) In a few weeks I leave for Ireland, for a certain Irish Castle Writing Retreat, as already blogged by Maureen Johnson and the redoubtable Sarah Rees Brennan. Basically, I will be spending a week in Somewhere, Ireland, with Robin Wasserman, Holly Black, Carrie Ryan, Ally Carter, Diana Peterfreund, Sarah Cross, and Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Maureen is working on a Super Sekrit Project and I will be wading through the second half of The Clockwork Princess, which is already consuming my life. I predict someone falls into a bog (the peat kind) and is preserved for posterity.
Also I will have tour dates to post soon. Like next week soon.
