The first chapter of City of Fallen Angels (and POV)
The first chapter of City of Fallen Angels is now available on my website to read — in full, unredacted, with the extra 13 pages missing from the chapter hunt.

*I've already been asked several times if, because this chapter is from Simon's point of view, that means the book is from his point of view. It's not. The chapters switch viewpoint. As anyone who's read Chapter Two, which is in the back of the US paperback City of Glass, can attest, the next chapter is told from Clary's point of view. The third splits her viewpoint with Jace's. Enjoy!

My fifteen-year-old son is now using City of Bones to strike up conversations with girls at the high school where he's a freshman. I will have to work on getting him all the others so he can carry on the conversations further. I think it's sweet. -- Jori

Praise for the Series
I must tell you how fantastic the story, writing and character development is in your series. I bought the box set on a whim not knowing what to expect but desperately needing a place to escape. I went home, grabbed a glass of wine, curled up and began my journey into this world. I absolutely loved the pace, suspense and detail you put into the characters. The best part for me was how each character and personality was conistent throughout the series. A character untimately has to do what their personality dictates; however not predictable even if the reader or writer does not want them to follow that path. You writing stays true to the characters you develop so well and that is what is most amazing about the way you tell a story. It is consistent with Clockwork as well. I am looking forward to many more stories, characters and worlds you create both within the TMI, TID and outside. Your writing is amazing and so are is your humor! THanks for letting me share.

I like the first chapter so much! I dunno if it's just because it's the first new writing I read from you in a long time, but I find your writing has improved even more. Very impressive! Plus I love Simon. Still hoping for a love triangle to come. I mean come on, Clary IS still in love with him >_>..

City of Fallen Angels
The first chapter was amazing!I can't wait to read the novel. Like her previous series, I found it suspenseful and mind boggling. Cassandra is an amazing author and I hope that she will keep the romance going between Jace and Clary because its better than any Twilight novel I read. And I think some people will be sad if they broke up, there a part of what makes this novel a must read.

The Mortal Instuments
I loved the first chapter and can't wait to read the rest of the book. I love your previous novel in the series. I think the best part of you novels is the connection between Jace and Clary. Their romance is better than Twilight!

It makes me super happy that Raphael looks like he's going to feature so heavily in the plot! And Camille too. Vampire politics are so much fun. c:

Kind of a random question, but I've noticed that you have a lot of religious references in your books. By ideas I mean Lillith, who is the mother of demons and Nephilim (which is a word that's actually used, as I'm sure you know). I was wondering where you got all of this information. Was your family religious? And even though it seems like you do have a religious background (or maybe just did a lot of research into theological references for the book?) I noticed as well that you're clearly quite openminded which, as a Jew, I appreciate.
Cassie Clarecassandraclare on February 27th, 2011 02:03 am (UTC)
I'm Jewish. :-) My family was not religious, but I've always been interested in various theologies and fascinated by the story of the Fall.

Hurry, Hurry!
I read these books back when City of Glass came out. I was mad to see the 'Prequel' come out knowing there was alot more to tell AFTER Glass! I reluctantly read Clockwork...omg, it was really good. I was trying to remember peoples names from that book to the others..so, I reread all of them this week! My husband thought I was crazy. It was better the second time!!
I read the new chapter! Yea! Now I am worried about Jace's fortune of 'falling in love with the wrong person!'

Found it funny that so many were concerned about 'Simon's POV'..All your other books change up..reread peeps!

Thank you for the wonderful stories that you share with us and I must say I will be horrified if this whole story doesn't end well! I mean we read to make ourselves happy, right!? So keep that in mind that Clary and Jace should be together always! *hint, hint*
