movie news — casting Clary
Just dropping an entry to announce that, as reported by Deadline, Lily Collins, who starred in The Blind Side and the upcoming Priest**, has been cast to play Clary in the movie adaptation of City of Bones. The producers and director have worked with her before and say great things, and I have to admit right now I haven't seen The Blind Side but am obviously going to go out and watch it NOW.

She is completely adorable and looks right for Clary to me:

[and with curly hair!]

And now, of course, as this article notes, presumably the speculation about who plays Jace will begin in earnest . . .

** And apparently is also famous for dating Taylor Lautner — did I know this? No, but my readers apparently know everything. :)

ETA: There are now 590 comments on the post and I think 589 mention Alex Pettyfer. We get it. Really, we do! It would be hard to miss. Just a reminder that I don't have any influence over casting!

The Cast Could Be Better
I'm not to sure about Lily, her red hair in the photo above looks really fake and it's not curly. If they can make her hair an awesome red and curly but make it look real, i think she could totally play the part of clary but for now no. I think Molly C Quinn would make a better Clary but as it is its not up to me. Ashley Greene should play Isabelle Gerard Butler as Luke, Daniel Craig as Valentine, Maryse Lightwood Cote De Pablo, Maia Missy Peregrym. What about Toby Hemingway as Jace Wayland or Chase Crawford as Jace or Simon maybe Alec

Re: The Cast Could Be Better
It seems a little odd to be upset that Lily's hair is not naturally curly (a minor detail) and then suggest Missy Peregrym for Maia, when Missy is white, and Maia is black (not a minor detail.)

Re: The Cast Could Be Better
To Cassandra Clare: doesn't it specifically say that Maia(sorry for spelling) is black? So don't they need a BLACK actress? Just a thought

Re: The Cast Could Be Better
Yes. Maia is black (actually, she's biriacial.) But it would be unacceptable to cast a white actress as her. It always weirds me out when people fixate on ludicrous details like eyebrows and then handwave away a character's race.
