movie news — casting Clary
Just dropping an entry to announce that, as reported by Deadline, Lily Collins, who starred in The Blind Side and the upcoming Priest**, has been cast to play Clary in the movie adaptation of City of Bones. The producers and director have worked with her before and say great things, and I have to admit right now I haven't seen The Blind Side but am obviously going to go out and watch it NOW.

She is completely adorable and looks right for Clary to me:

[and with curly hair!]

And now, of course, as this article notes, presumably the speculation about who plays Jace will begin in earnest . . .

** And apparently is also famous for dating Taylor Lautner — did I know this? No, but my readers apparently know everything. :)

ETA: There are now 590 comments on the post and I think 589 mention Alex Pettyfer. We get it. Really, we do! It would be hard to miss. Just a reminder that I don't have any influence over casting!

i'm not trying to be mean but in my opinion i feel its too early for a movie at all. i understand that people are excited but i feel that they're moving too fast with it and by moving this fast they may end up making some bad decisions. we don't need another I Am Number Four or
Eragon. We all saw how bad they ended up and eragon never got a sequel because the movie was done so badly. i feel as though there is no one available at the moment who could really truly play the parts. personally i think it could wait a little longer. the mortal instruments series are my favorite books next to Lord of the Rings and i would hate to see them ruined because someone was too quick to jump into a movie. in all honesty i feel like this is going to be one of those movies that they are going to use to try and replace harry potter and twilight because they're ending. i would love to see these books made into movies but not because someone wants to replace something else for the sake of making money.

Having now read through 24 pages of stupid comments from people about this movie, congratulations. This is the stupidest.

Uh, Okay then.
Yeah, It's also unfortunate that you consciously made the decision to do that. You clearly have too much time on your hands.

Re: Uh, Okay then.
Could you guys just . . . stop? All three of these comments are awful. I do not know what it is about movies that brings out people's meanness and weirdness, but this is a side of the TMI fandom I'm really sorry to see.
